To anyone that can help, I am a 53 year old single woman living on a small disability check, $ 674.00 a month to be exact. I live alone , pay rent, utilities, water, phone, gas for my car, toiletries, kitchen supplies, well I could go on and on but you get my point. I pay all of this on that small amount of money every month. My medical insurance is medicaid. Medicaid does not pay for Dental, I get a 30% discount but with the little bit of money I have to live on how do they expect me to afford dental. I have bone degeneration and arthritis in all my joint, My teeth that I have left are very discolored due to many hospital stays and daily intravenous antibiotics. I am missing several teeth mainly on top , only to chew with, cavities showing under the gums on front teeth and throbbing gums, teeth shifting, spaces widening between my teeth, and rotting out. I only have 8 teeth and that just on top, bottom teeth are just rotting out. I have been to the dentist and they won't even clean my teeth, one says I need a deep cleaning but if they do that I will lose my 4 front bottom teeth, but who has the money to pay for that anyway, certainly not me. I have contacted anybody and everybody for help. I've called all the clinics and so on, But even at a low cost clinic it will still cost me at least $ 60.00 per visit. Now refer back to the beginning and see what I have to live on and what I pay monthly. Can anyone tell me where this money is suppose to come from. This is my Dilemma, Because dental is an on going thing over the years, I have decided I just want all my teeth pulled and get dentures, because I will never be able to afford dental. I just want to be done with it. I'm embarrassed and humiliated by my teeth. I won't smile in pictures, I can't have a love life or even date due to my teeth being so unattractive, and I'm an attractive woman. I look at old pictures and see my then great smile and wonder what the heck happened to me. To start off with I married a very abusive man who couldn't keep his hands off of me , PTSD is part of my disability along with depression and afore mentioned bone disease. I have no one to help me and am estranged from my family. I need help so badly , I feel this is my last hope, I have honestly tried everything else, but if you don't have money, you don't have money. I don't have money !!! Can someone please find it in your heart to help me get my smile back ! Thank You for reading and God Bless
Reply to truly unique---I assume your son is on medicaid. I don't know what state your in but normally the state will help with daycare if you can get a job, it may not have to be full time work but thousands of women hold down full and part time jobs and go to school at the same time. If you want an education you are going to have to do what you need to to get it. If the state said they will help you with daycare I suggest you get out there and find any job your qualified to do and work your school hours around your job and son. There is no magic pill that is going make it all nice and easy for you to get an education. Be thankful the state said they would if you work. You have two choices as I see it, either find a job and continue your education or quit school and find a job to survive. You can do it, if you want it bad enough. Goodluck Sincerely sheshe030

Hello my name is LaNeita too (with a capital N) How old are you? My mother's name is LaNeita too. My grandmother named her. Their last name was LaMarr so hence LaNeita LaMarr (the capital). My mother was born in 1920. My grandmother had heard the name when she was a small girl. She was born in 1891 and wanted to name one of her children that when she had kids. I also met another lady on here who was actually named after MY mother. Where did your name come from? I was born in 1950. Please respond back to me at LaNeita@aol.com. Thank you. How fun is this???
I know I'm responding to a very old post, but with Ameriplan's Dental Plus program, you only pay $14.95 a month for an individual ($19.95 a month for an entire household of up to 20 people, need not be related). You'll get up to 80% discount on all dental services when you go to a network provider. You can get the work you need for a significantly lower price this way.
It's your choice whether you want to check it out or not but thought I would just let you know about this particular option.
I was in a similar situation until I found My Powermall. It is free to join and if you work at it, it will help pay the bills. Check it out www.mypowermall.com/mall/125752

Hi Louise,
I hope your graduation went well and you found the help you were looking for. I am also in college and in need of major dental help. Please let me know if you have any advice. Thanks!
I am a 22 year old full-time college student in New York, and will be graduating in May. The problem is I am uninsured and cannot afford dental work that would enable me to speak to others much less smile at graduation. I have been on medicaid in the past a had dental work done, but it has just exacerbated the problem. One dentist did a root canal and then just stuck Temperin in the space, needless to say it did not last long and now the front tooth has broken. I have tried financing options but do not have the credit necessary to secure plans like care credit, captial one. I need extensive dental work, but would be happy with just the front tooth fixed. My mother and sister also struggle with dental problems, and have encountered the same problems I have. My hope by posting this plea is to find a dentist or someone to help my family and me get the dental care we desparately need. We have worked hard, but this is one expense we cannot take on by ourselves. Any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.
